Bored City Review - Every Storm
Checkout Bored CIty's review of my song 'Every Storm'
'What makes “Every Storm” so touching is the raw emotion that Hendren brings to the song. His voice is filled with vulnerability and honesty, and he doesn’t shy away from exploring the darkest parts of the human experience. At the same time, his lyrics are infused with a sense of hope and resilience, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, there is always a way forward.
ā
Overall, “Every Storm” is a beautiful and touching song that showcases Charlie Hendren’s talent as a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. With its raw emotion and touching lyrics, it’s a track that will resonate with anyone who has experienced loss or hardship in their lives.'

Animal Box
After over a year of having to focus on our somewhat uncompromising human affairs, I found myself taking solace in celebrating nature; specifically animals. This evolved into an incredible songwriting adventure I've called 'Animal Box'.
'Animal Box' is an album of songs, each of which celebrates the beauty and absurdity of different animals from around the world through various musical genres.
It's been an amazing journey and I am so excited to release the first volume!
Have a listen below:

A Way Back
'A Way Back' is an album that fuses traditional influences with contemporary songwriting. It expresses a sense of the significant points we experience along a journey. In collaboration with Phil Clarke, Georgina Leach, Noelle Woosley and Simon Treasure, this album weaves together strings, acoustic guitar, and percussion to give the listener a sense of grounding yet depth and scope. With many instrumentals laid out along the way and tracks like 'All of Your News' which was improvised/recorded on a starry evening in Egypt, this album marries many elements, temperatures and textures to give the listener a rich and varied experience.

Climb to the Moon
'Climb to the Moon' is an EP that celebrates Celtic tones and expresses deep and rich atmospheres. With touches of brass, percussion and bamboo flute, this EP presents dream-like themes yet grounds them with a poetic certainty.

Amy
'Amy' is a song I wrote for Amy Winehouse. I was so incredibly inspired by the documentary 'AMY' by Asif Kapadia, that after watching it, I immediately grabbed my guitar and began to write. It is a heartfelt response to her music, her life and her death and more than that, it is a question around fame.

To Belong to Something
Collaboration with Jimmy Adams
During the creation process of 'Community', a dance theatre piece by Humanah Productions in 2017, I had the pleasure of collaborating with the incredibly talented Jimmy Adams. We composed this track for the piece and had such a great time doing it. Check out Jimmy's Soundcloud below for more of his music!
Improvisation - Exploration
A huge part of my work is using improvisation to evolve as an artist. Improvisation and playfulness is, in my opinion, a wonderfully efficient way to be in a close relationship with the vibrant, creative impulse within all of us. I'm fascinated by the state of spontaneity when I create and have found some truly transporting and obscure sounds and worlds in my explorations throughout the years. I'm a firm believer that we are all wired to play, create and share regardless of our background.
